Sunday’s protests were held to mark the 50th anniversary of the Federal Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade. In 1973, the Court ruled that regulating abortion at the state level was inconsistent with the US Constitution. In essence, it basically guaranteed a woman’s right to choose an abortion nationwide – in all member states.
The Supreme Court, by a conservative majority, revised last year’s decision and once again referred the regulation of abortion rights to the jurisdiction of member states.
