Their hourly wages rose 13.5 percent in the second quarter compared to the previous year.

In the second quarter of this year, the average gross hourly wage for skilled and trained workers performing physical work was HUF 2,104, according to the Trinkwalder analysis, which processed wage data for nearly 7,000 people, representing a 13.5 percent increase from HUF 1,853 a year ago.

In Northern Hungary, Northern Great Plain and Southern Transdanubia, the average hourly wage ranges from HUF 1,750 to HUF 1,900. In other regions, this indicator exceeds HUF 2,000. Central Transdanubia and Central Hungary, which also includes the capital, jump out of this range: in the former region, the average hourly wage is already HUF 2,300, in the latter regions this value has already reached the level of HUF 2,750.

The average salary increase in the higher wage brackets was also in the double digits. More Hungary examined the salary data of nearly 500 middle managers working in local subsidiaries of more than 60 international companies. In the case of employees with a gross monthly salary between HUF 800,000 and HUF 1.2 million, the salary increase in the second quarter of 2024 was an average of 10.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

In the case of middle managers of business service centers, which already employ more than 60,000 people nationwide, a wage increase of 7.2 percent was implemented, which is significantly lower than the above-mentioned average for middle managers in intellectual professions, during the period 2015-2019.
