Electric cars are growing in popularity – Economy – News

According to data from the Future Mobility Association, the number of purely electric vehicles at the end of June last year was 41,386, while at the end of June this year it reached 59,209. The number of so-called long-range hybrid electric vehicles increased from 21,874 to 29,646, and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles from 10,829 to 12,358.

Thus, the number of cars with some type of electric motor increased from 74,089 to 101,213 in Hungary in one year.

According to estimates by the Future Mobility Association, although the number of public charging points is approaching 3,000, according to its experience, most people still charge their batteries at home. In parallel with the emergence of electric cars, a further increase in the number of chargers available to the public can be expected, and even an improvement in the charging speed available is expected, thanks, among other things, to ultra-fast charging facilities (over 100 kW). This was achieved within the framework of CEF2.

In the announcement of the Future Mobility Association, they also mention that according to their experts, planning holidays with an electric car has become easier thanks to the expansion of charging networks and their increased range. They add: The most important thing for a carefree trip is good planning, and an important part of this is mapping charging stations. When planning a longer trip, it is important to know in advance where the charging points are and how often they will be needed depending on the type of vehicle. To do this, you need to know the range of the car when using the motorway, which can be 30 percent less than usual in urban use due to high speed. At the same time, it should also be taken into account that the car's consumption will be higher due to the number of packages and the use of air conditioning, and this increase is greater for electric cars than for conventional ones.

Regarding charging, the experts stated: Although Lightning chargers always have the appropriate cable (with CCS and/or CHAdeMO connector), in the case of AC chargers it is useful to bring your own cable (type 1 or type 2), since there are chargers that do not have a fixed cable. They added: A portable charger with a plug should always be present in the trunk of the car, because in unexpected situations they can always get power from any available socket.

The announcement quotes Yvette Hajnal-Bokor, director of TEA Mobilitás Kft. and expert at the Future Mobility Association, who said: “We recommend that part of the preparation should not only be route planning and registration with the chosen service providers, but also the test charge. Having a charging routine and knowing the car’s consumption and charging curve makes vacationing with an electric car much easier,” she stressed.
