In Katowice, Poland, the most talented young people from 37 countries compared their skills at the 35th European Union Young Scientists Competition, in which Marton Hegedes received two awards, the Special Prize of the Competition and the Third Prize.
According to the announcement of the Hungarian Innovation Association, 150 high school students selected from among 65,000 young people have reached the finals of the prestigious talent search competition organized annually by the European Union from September 9 to 14 this year.
Among young people aged 14-20, Hungary was selected by the Hungarian Innovation Association for 2023–The 33rd National Olympiad on Science and Innovation held in 2024 was represented by the authors of the three applications for the first prize.
Eleven years later, a young Hungarian is back on the podium. Marton Hegedes graduated from Kecskemét Reform High School and is currently a first-year chemistry student at Eötvös Loránd University. The first two rounds of the four-stage competition for young scientists are conducted by participating countries, with a maximum of three selected projects being judged by an international jury in Brussels. The selected candidates then participate in a three-day presentation, which is integrated into the exhibition, where the international jury makes the final decision during interviews, they wrote.
