He missed a lot, almost three months Eric VetterWho will be the only Hungarian starting Sunday Field competition of the European Championship.
The break was too long due to two unexpected illnesses, because according to the original plans, Eric would have been there in August at the Tour de Limousin, where he won a stage in 2021.
After using the Slovak round as a rebound, today the next task, the European Championship, is on a course that seems more difficult than expected.
And after the field race on Sunday, we head to Croatia, because Eric Vetter will be there at the Croatian circuit starting on Tuesday (also broadcast on Eurosport), and then there will be two Italian one-day races, one of which will definitely be Lombardy It would be any if it didn’t fall Attila Walter program planned in advance, then we can once again cheer on two Hungarian competitors in the last major Classic event of the year.
How do you like the track and how much of it have you seen?
I saw a lot of it because I practiced it on Friday and Saturday. I went about 5-6 rounds, so I was able to get to know him pretty well. Based on the layout, I expected it to be easier, overall, it’s quite challenging, not only is the Col du Vam rough, but there are two more serious climbs on the course, and they are also constantly undulating. The descents are also very technical, we are constantly driving on narrow roads, so be careful. Flat parts will be difficult mainly because of the location.
Do you like these typical Belgian-Dutch competitions? Because you haven’t been on roads like this very often.
Not really much, but I’m confident because of this year’s Belgian Tour. I think these style competitions suit me. Positioning, short sprints, tight roads, constant acceleration, chaos, I love it all.
Not at all, I don’t think it would be stupid to move on, so to speak. If I go with a good group, maybe we can do 1-2 laps inside the ring. Then they’ll arrest us anyway, and maybe we can be included in a tight group. Obviously this is the ideal scenario, the competition decides what can be done anyway.
For example, if the wind was strong or it was raining, I don’t think they would really want to give it up. In this case, the field is more tense, wants to get ahead of every competitor, and there is a constant battle for good positions, and this means a higher pace. Then there will be little chance of reaching the roundabout by escape.
You competed at the Slovakia circuit last time, but wasn’t it a long three months without competition before that?
But unfortunately, I got sick twice in the summer, so I decided on my health this way. The program was canceled mainly due to an omission in July, as I was going to go on a limousine tour as usual. In practice, I missed so much that I took the whole season off, so I had to train a lot.
The Slovak circuit was also good, I had a very tough day running there, and I got back into the rhythm again. My feelings improved day by day, and training this week was going perfectly. I hope I can compete fully from now on.
How do you see your program after the European Championship?
I totally get it. From Holland, I fly immediately to Croatia because I’m going to the Cro Race, then come two Italian one-day races, first Tre Valli Varesine, then Lombardia.
Then you will go to almost the same competitions as Mr. Walter.
Yes, we also talked about the fact that we will finally have joint competitions.
Really, what about Ati’s Vuelta?
I don’t know exactly, did he end up going there? 😊
We will be broadcasting the European Championship field race live on Eurosport from 12:15pm on Sunday!
