Evolution: The US could get its hands on Russia's superweapon

Intense negotiations are underway between the United States and Turkey regarding the Russian S-400 air defense system. According to information from the Greek newspaper Kathimerini, Washington has put forward a proposal that would allow Ankara to keep the systems, but would essentially transfer control over them to the United States. Ekathimerini Based on Article A file.

Accordingly, this summer the United States proposed a compromise solution to the issue of the Sz-400 air defense systems, which would formally allow them to remain on the territory of the country: the Russian systems would be transferred to a part of the Incirlik base in Turkey under American control.

This would allow Turkey to avoid violating the agreement with Russia and maintain its air defense capabilities. This means that Turkey could return to the F-35 fifth-generation fighter program.

Michael Rubin, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, confirmed the proposal. “In exchange for returning to the F-35 program, they demanded that Turkey either hand over the S-400s to the United States or move them to the U.S.-controlled sector of Incirlik,” he said.
