The most important thing to do with a rose is to stop encouraging it to produce new buds. Most types of roses are not winter hardy and must be prepared for the colder months.
In October and November, the rose’s task is no longer to bloom and produce new buds, but rather to focus on slowing down and thus reducing the risk of freezing. When rose leaves fall, it’s time to wrap up the year and prepare for next spring.

These are the things you can do with roses in the fall
Unfortunately, roses are sensitive to frost, so they must be pruned before the first cold dawn. Then the bases must be cut at a height of half a meter, and the side branches must also be trimmed.
Then the rose stems are stacked at a height of 25-30 cm. To do this, it is best to use compost garden soil and organic fertilizer mixture. However, be careful not to damage the rose’s roots while pulling the soil there. It is worth covering the top of the pile with straw, so that we can give it greater protection against frost, if we do not do this, our rose will be weaker next year.
However, the running rose does not need to be cut or even covered, as it can survive the winter perfectly even without cover.
If you want to plant a rose, this fall period is also excellent. Moreover, we can also plant new roots, this way they can take root before winter comes.
