As you know, the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are equipped with the South Korean company's self-developed Exynos 2400 chipset in certain markets, including here in Europe. Yes, but these handsets were only introduced a few days ago, and some information has already been leaked about the upcoming Exynos 2,500 chipset, which will serve in the Galaxy S25 models that will debut next year.
According to very early information, the Exynos 2500 will retain the 10-core CPU of its predecessor, but the new model will use ARM processor cores that have not been introduced yet. The chipset will be manufactured using Samsung's second-generation GAP/SF3 manufacturing process. The manufacturing process in question will be better than TSMC's current 3nm process in terms of footprint and efficiency.
In the Exynos 2500, one Cortex-X5 processor can run at at least 3.2 GHz, three Cortex-A730 processors running at 2.3-2.5 GHz, two additional Cortex-A730 cores with an unknown clock rate, and four Cortex-cores. A520 is energy efficient. . This Cortex-X5 core will reportedly outperform Apple's latest custom CPU cores.
Thus, the Exynos 2500 will be a really interesting chipset in terms of performance, but how it performs in terms of efficiency is a separate story. However, with a full year to go until the chipset and the phones that power it debut, we'll have plenty of time and opportunity to get to know the chip through leaks and previews.
In the Exynos 2500, the graphics acceleration task can be performed by the Xclipse 950 GPU based on AMD RDNA, which is said to be an improvement in several aspects compared to the Xclipse 940 service in the Exynos 2400. The graphics controller of the current Exynos chipsets is not worth pity, because it outperforms the Adreno accelerator 750 of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3's ray tracing, and in most games it delivers the same performance as its Qualcomm competitor — at least according to some initial tests.
Even if the Exynos 2400 does not reach the level of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in synthetic tests, it is not far from it, that is, the 2500 chipset will be able to offer the same performance as its competitor at that time thanks to the improvements made. We're looking forward to seeing what Samsung has to offer with its own chip.
