Joe Biden visited third on Monday, ahead of the NATO summit. To King Charles at Windsor Castle, over afternoon tea, the US President and the British Monarch discussed climate change. The President of the United States was greeted by a parade and band at the 950-year-old castle, the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. The Welsh Guards played the US national anthem, and then Biden watched the soldiers in the third. Together with Carol.
For a moment, the president seemed intrigued by an officer of the honor guard who gave the traditional salute, III. And Karolyi had to fight about it to win back Biden’s attention.
The chief looked confused and ignored the king and seemed to be trying to talk to the member of the guard.
A short intermission followed, but the King managed to point the chief in the right direction again. At the time, breaking protocol, President Biden put his arms around III. Charles.
After tea, the President and King met with a group of politicians and business leaders to talk about climate change.
Biden has previously been criticized for skipping a third. Karoli’s coronation, but they have already met several times, including at the COP26 climate forum.
