Featured on Xbox Game Pass, this game was a huge hit on its first day!

The game, which launched on Xbox Game Pass Day 1 in May, has already passed a major milestone for the popular subscription service.

Xbox Game Pass Ravenlok, which was added to the service on Xbox Game Pass Day 1 in May, has already reached an important milestone. Ravenlok was released just two days after the poorly received Xbox vampire-slaying FPS Redfall, and Ravenlok seemed lost in the thick of it at first. However, it has now become one of Game Pass’s biggest hits of the year.

Ravenlok is part of what developer Cococucumber calls the Voxel Trilogy, a third-person RPG set in a fantasy world inspired by Alice in Wonderland with beautiful voxel art. Other games in the Voxel trilogy are Riverbond and Echo Generation, the latter of which is a turn-based RPG inspired by Stranger Things. Since 2019’s Riverbond, Cococucumber has continued to hone and perfect her popular voxel art style, culminating in Ravenloks, the finale to the Cococucumber Voxel Trilogy.

As Cococucumber’s first fantasy RPG and the studio’s biggest game to date, Ravenlok has reached a milestone. In an interview with Xbox Wire with Cococucumber director and lead programmer Martin Gauvreau, it was revealed that Ravenlok amassed 500,000 players in just six weeks. Half a million players is an impressive feat for almost any game, but especially so for a smaller indie title like Ravenlok.

In the interview, Gauvreau explains how development on the Xbox Series X and S consoles has benefited Cococucumber, as they were able to improve 4K resolution at 60fps on the Series X console, and also mentions that the console’s SSD made it possible for the team to achieve Their ideas with the mitigation of compromises. With the game arriving just two days after Redfall, it’s possible that Game Pass users who were let down by Arkane’s vampire open-world shooter before Ravenlok’s arrival on the service ship have probably hopped on as the next Game Pass release instead of Cococucumber’s fantasy RPG.

Although Cococucumber is still a smaller studio, their games seem to be getting bigger with each release. With the studio’s Voxel Trilogy wrapped up, we have to wonder if the studio still has plans to continue making voxel games after Ravenlok’s huge Game Pass success. Now that Ravenlok has amassed half a million players, there’s no doubt that Cococucumber has amassed thousands of new fans and followers eager to learn about the studio’s upcoming project.

Ravenlok is now available for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S.
