The 19th FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup will be held in three Asian countries (Philippines, Indonesia and Japan) from August 25 to September 10, 2023. This will be the first time that several countries will participate in the ranking, and the second FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup to participate 32 national teams. Spain is the defending champion.

• Africa (5 teams): Angola, South Sudan, Egypt, Ivory Coast and Cape Verde

• Indonesia hosts the event for the first time, followed by the Philippines (1978) and Japan (2006).
• This is the first time that a host country does not have a team at the World Cup. The national teams of the Philippines and Japan had the quota as exits, but the Indonesian national team, which was a weak playing force – according to the FIBA decision – could only make it through the playoffs; Did not succeed.
• Three World Cups will be held in Asia in a row: China hosted in 2019 and Qatar hosted in 2027.
