FIFA: The United States will host the first Club World Cup with the participation of 32 teams

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will be the first tournament to feature 32 teams, with 12 teams from European Union (UEFA), 6 from South America (CONMEBOL), 1 from Asia (AFC), 1 from Africa (CAF), and 1 from North and Central Africa. CONCACAF can delegate four teams each, while the OFC can delegate one club team, just like the host nation.

Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester City – These three European teams are already certain to participate in the large-scale tournament. The London team will participate in the Club World Cup in 2021, Madrid in 2022, and Manchester in 2023 thanks to its victory in the Champions League. Of the remaining nine European places, one place will definitely go to the winner of the 2023-2024 Champions League competition, and the other eight will be allocated based on the UEFA classification.

The FIFA Council also postponed the launch of the bid to host the 2030 World Cup. It is expected that the regulations will be presented for approval at the organization’s meeting in early autumn in 2023, and the application process will be officially launched after that. The naming of the host country will also be postponed from the third quarter of 2024 to the fourth quarter of 2024.
