A Final Fantasy IX remake may be coming sooner than we thought…
It's very difficult to decide which episodes of the Final Fantasy series we consider to be our favorite. Since almost all parts are great, we can rightly name which one is closest to us. Those who loved Final Fantasy IX at the time now have some exciting news.
Originally released in 2000, Final Fantasy IX is the ninth main installment in Square Enix's long-running series, and according to the latest rumors, it may be getting an official remake.
Now, according to SEGA/Atlas leaker “Midori”, the development of the FFIX remake is progressing well. If all of this is true, it's possible that Square Enix will officially announce the title before April 2025.
This comes a month after Midori claimed that the remake is already in the works. Now, thanks to the infamous leaker, we have more information about the project.
According to the leaker, the remake was originally outsourced. However, development was delayed because Square Enix was not satisfied with the way things were going.
However, according to their claim, the development is now “highly advanced.”
They do not have a specific release date. But the title is expected to be released before the end of Square Enix's current fiscal year. The last one will expire on March 31, 2025.
“But at the moment I don’t have any confirmed information about the scope of the title or a specific release date,” he said.
Midori also added that more information about Final Fantasy IX Remake could be revealed at the upcoming Xbox Showcase. The latter will be broadcast on June 9.
“New information is planned for some SQEX titles at the Xbox Showcase,” they claimed.
“I don't know if that title will be up front. So it's good to keep expectations low for now.”
FFIX, whose remake is rumored to be coming to multiple platforms, is considered by many to be one of the best games in the Final Fantasy series. Even though it was first released over twenty years ago, its fan base is still eagerly waiting for the rumored remake to happen.
