First, third, second and fourth place in orienteering competitions

Near Pilisszentlászó, the National Long Distance Championship and the National Team Points Championship were organized at the weekend. The terrain was new to everyone, as no orienteering competition had been held in the area for 30 years.

Peter Fonio, a professional manager, assessed it this way.

I am very satisfied with the performance of our competitors. On Saturday, we competed in a venue where there had not been an orienteering event in decades. The steep terrain aspects and large differences in level presented a difficult physical challenge to the field. Nearly fifty people from our department began the screening process. The completely uncharted territory has been a major challenge for almost the entire field. The team championship was held on Sunday on a very diverse and interesting field. We can also be satisfied that many people finished in the top half of the field, which means overall progress. The fact that three of our youth teams were on the podium clearly indicates that we are on the right track. Also on the weekend, there will be a two-day competition in Miskolc, the final event of the year. The night race will be held on Saturday, and the association will continue on Sunday. Given the distance, we will be going there with a smaller number of people, about 20 people, and I expect good results there as well.

In the individual race organized on Saturday, many were able to stand on the podium for the first time in their lives, and many of them finished the race in the first half of the field.
