According to the information, the program will be implemented for a period of one month in the spring of 2024 with the support of the Hungarian National Bank and the Padme Foundation, as well as in cooperation with the Pro Progressio Foundation.
Creators of any art form (including writers, musicians, visual artists, filmmakers, and dancers) from the European Union can apply for the call. During the four-week period, artists can consult with researchers, enter laboratories, and meet Hungarian participants in the BME residency programme, as well as other artists – read in the announcement.
At the end of their residency, the artists-in-residence will present their work in a format appropriate to the work they have undertaken (eg pop-up exhibition, public reading, concert, short performance) and reflect on their time at the BME. Application deadline: July 31, 2023.
In 2022, the University of the Arts announces the Art Residency Program for Hungarian Artists for the first time. The first year of the program ended with an exhibition of Ádám Boruzs and Olga Kocsi, Artists-in-Residence for 2022.
The 2023 Call for Hungarian Artists received 60 applications from 78 artists, of whom the jury selected sculptor Katinka Hagäs and composer Andrea Zigetfari as participants for the 2023/2024 programme.
As they write, like many art science residency programs around the world, the BME Scholarship encourages artists to study the intellectual, social, and ethical aspects of scientific and technological research, thereby inspiring a broader debate on the given topic.
