Four children have died of food poisoning in Russia's border Krasnoyarsk region in southern Siberia. An unmarked bag containing a light-colored powder of unknown origin was found in a family home in the Nazarovsky district, the regional prosecutor's office told TASSZ on Monday, MTI reported. According to the description, there was a light-colored loose substance in a polymer bag that was stored in a kitchen cupboard. Authorities have yet to determine what it was.
Earlier, the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation operating in the Khakassia region reported that fertilizers, chemicals, dishwasher tablets, food waste, and veterinary preparations were sent from home for examination by experts, as well as their instructions for use. According to the work, it is recommended to wear work clothes and rubber gloves, and wash hands with soap after use. On September 21, the Investigative Departments of the Krasnoyarsk and Khakasvold borders of the Investigative Committee reported that two children, aged 6 and 13, died as a result of severe poisoning. An 11-year-old girl died the next morning, and a 12-year-old girl died the next morning. A 12-year-old girl died on Monday. The expert investigation so far has shown that the cause of the poisoning of the family living in the village of Krasznaya Szopka was an unidentified toxic substance.
According to the prosecutor's office, the parents of the poisoned children have regained consciousness and their interrogation is still ongoing. The owner and salesman of the grocery store, the emergency doctor of the local hospital and the family's relatives have been interrogated as part of the criminal investigation under the article on the production, storage and sale of goods that do not meet safety requirements. The authorities have confiscated the video cameras in the grocery store, and forensic investigations are underway into the case.
