Gemini: You can also give smart replies in Gmail on our phones!

Technology News – On both Android and iOS, we have the Gemini option which makes it easier to write replies in Google's email service.

At its I/O developer conference held on May 14, Google announced several features. One was that we could also receive smart replies that matched the context of the text with the help of Gemini in Gmail for both iOS and Android (but this was done with about a half-sentence announcement at the time). Four and a half months later, he's finally here, able to interpret the intent of the message to create appropriate responses that can lead to comfortable and good use.

Gmail has been providing Smart Replies since 2017, which can come in handy when we're in a hurry or when we're on the road and don't have time to type out what we have to say ourselves. But these responses were limited and did not understand the context of the sender and receiver. Google's Gemini artificial intelligence can help with this, which can generate more detailed answers to the user tailored to the situation.

When we ask to compose an email response, we get three options based on the full content and topics of the emails. All three responses have a different tone, and if you want to preview the response, you'll need a long tap to view it, and if you want to post the response, a short tap will suffice. Before we send the email (in which Gemini will send a thank you and goodbye message), we will have the opportunity to edit it. The function, called Contextual Smart Replies in English, is currently available to Gemini Business, Education, Education Premium, Enterprise, and Google One AI Premium subscribers.

The functionality is based on the core Smart Answer option and will, by definition, also be available on Google and Apple platforms. At the moment, the answer option generated by artificial intelligence is only available in English, but in the coming weeks the function will appear more widely, which may cause a few pleasant minutes especially for lazy users, since they do not have to type everything that Gemini does for them in seconds.
