Giga leak from Project Rene!

Giga leak from Project Rene!

The project formerly known as The Sims 5 has fallen victim to a massive leak: the project has not been canceled and is still in the testing phase!

The game won't be called The Sims 5, but Project Rene is still in development. This project was previously called The Sims Next Generation and had a simple playtest that included a basic live mode in the new mini-playtest. The Reddit leaker played it for several hours and promised more information on the game later.

Project Rene launches on the Google Play Store as The Sims Labs: The Hub with the following description: “Explore a Parisian neighborhood full of unique activities and stylish rewards. Welcome to The Sims Labs: The Hub! Choose your Sim – each unique character has their own story SPECIAL – Join your friends and other players to explore the vibrant Parisian neighborhood together Earn new clothes from the Thrift Shop by working at the local café or completing quests Make wishes at the square's fountain, discover hidden collectibles, meet locals, and more. Sims Labs games are modular experiments focused on testing small parts of larger game concepts. Features in this app do not necessarily represent the direction or content of future Sims games.

So it takes place in a Paris-inspired world that is part of a larger hub (The Sims Hub). Assassin's Creed would follow this principle later, but Call of Duty has also been using such a pivot system recently. This hub was also featured at EA's Investor Day and includes The Sims 4, MySims, The Sims: Project Stories, and Project Rene. Project Rene will be a cooperative multiplayer experience where Sims can travel and interact within a specific area. They can talk, work and build relationships, there will be text/voice communication, and you can build and shop together in multiplayer. There will also be NPCs. Initially, the version was only available on Android, although there was a PC version of the first version (with Denuvo…).

The playtest provided a very small glimpse into the world. Building status and condos were excluded from this test. It was not possible to create a Sim either, but subsequent testing would allow that as well. You can choose from four pre-made characters. Due to a glitch, the leaker was able to choose a character named Rory. Once you choose your Sim, the game will immediately offer some initial tasks to get you started. These tasks change daily. The main gameplay in this version is in a café with other players.

Once we get down to business, NPC Sims will start coming in and sitting down. Someone has to pick up their order and a bubble appears above their head showing which item they want. Then you need to collect these things. They can choose from coffee, espresso or croissant. They cannot choose more than one product at the same time (croissant + coffee). This is the main way to make money in this version and it can get very repetitive and tiring after a while. Especially since jobs don't give you that many Simoleons. Another way to earn Simoleons is to level up. XP can be earned for granting wishes at the fountain, talking to Sims, completing quests, or working at the café. There were only 5 levels accessible during testing, each level giving a new Simoleon piece or name tag. Hard-earned Simoleons can be spent at the clothing store. The outfit cannot be customized and we are forced to choose from 5 pre-defined outfits.

So, this will be a multiplayer game designed for mobile phones…
