It’s been a little over a year since “Girls5Eva” announced its third season on Netflix after its cancellation on Peacock. Star Sara Bareilles said they hope the show will debut “early” in 2024 in the new broadcast home.
“Post-production is well underway,” she told TheWrap on Tuesday. Confirm reports From star Paula Pell, Season 3 has completed filming before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes this summer.
“I’ll be in my ADR sessions in the next couple of weeks, and I know our creatives are locking down edits and working on the sound mix and all that stuff,” Bareilles continued. “All of that has stopped, so there’s been a pretty profound break in that flow. So we’re hoping that will be early next year, but we don’t have an actual date yet.”
Bareilles, a Grammy Award-winning recording artist and Tony and Emmy Award-nominated actress, stars in the Peacock original series from creator Meredith Scardino and the latter stars Tina Fey and Robert Carlock as Dawn Solano, a mother and waitress who decides to revisit her hit song again. -A great group of girls from last year at the last rodeo. “I know I’m biased because I’m in it, but I think the actors are geniuses and I think this show is like candy,” Bareilles said. “It’s so funny and silly and good for the soul and has a lot of heart and is so fun to watch. It’s beyond fun to make.”
Regarding the initial cancellation at the NBCUniversal streamer and the subsequent pickup of Season 3, Bareilles said Netflix “seems like a great home” for the musical comedy series.
“I will always be very grateful to Peacock, they gave us our chance to get to the table at all, and so it’s very rare to get from one network to another with material like this. So I feel very lucky,” she said. “We left Season 2 without We know what’s going to happen next, and you might really feel the heartbreak.
She added: “We really love doing this show together and felt so relieved to come back and do a third season, so hopefully there will be many more seasons.” I’ll take whatever they give me. “I like it very much.”
Seasons one and two of “Girls5Eva” are now streaming on Peacock and will be released on Netflix simultaneously with season three — “so people who haven’t seen the show yet will kind of start from the beginning,” Bareilles said.
Bareilles can next be seen starring in the theatrical release of her musical “Waitress” which will hit screens nationwide on December 7 for five days via Bleecker Street and Fathom Events.
