The Google Home app has restored the ability to control the volume of multiple speakers, which was removed due to the Sonos lawsuit.
After being removed due to the Sonos lawsuit in late 2021 and early 2022, the Google Home app has regained the ability to control the volume of multiple speakers or devices at once.
In the past few years, you've had to adjust the volume of each speaker individually, which can be annoying to sync things up. From now on, the Google Home app (on Android) again provides the possibility to control the volume of selected devices at the same time. Users can do this by:
1. Open the application.
2. Start the playback session.
3. Click on the mini player.
4. Press the output selector and add/remove speakers dynamically or choose from one of the preset speaker groups.
5. Now you can control the volume of selected devices at the same time.
Functionality has also been restored for the Assistant's voice commands. For example, “Hey Google, set the volume to 40%” now controls the volume of the entire set of speakers.

Google is also promising more improvements: Group volume control will soon be available from the Android lock screen, as well as via smart displays like the Nest Hub. The new feature starting with Android 15 is already available in beta on Pixel devices.
