Google will automatically turn on Bluetooth on phones, even if we turn it off

Development and testing of Android 15 is already well underway, the first beta may arrive this month, and the final version may appear in the fall. Until then, almost every week something interesting about the new system was revealed, and this time there was news about Bluetooth operation.

Within days, Google's device tracking network will be launched, which will help us find our lost device with the help of other devices nearby. However, this only works well if users keep Bluetooth turned on on their phones, which is why the company is said to be preparing to introduce a big change with Android 15.

the AndroidAuthority According to a recent report, there are several references to a new feature called Bluetooth Auto-On, the essence of which is to turn Bluetooth on on its own after a certain period of time. It is also known that in the latest Android 14 QPR2 software for Pixel phones, a message has already begun to appear for many when Bluetooth is turned off. “It will turn on automatically again tomorrow.”

Features like Quick Share and Find My Device rely on Bluetooth connectivity and work well when Bluetooth is enabled in nearby devices. For this reason, users themselves will not maintain it en masse, but if the system always runs it on its own, this problem will be solved.

Of course, the new function may upset many people, since on the one hand Bluetooth drains phones, and on the other hand, the majority of users do not like it when the system overrules their decisions. At the same time, it is still too early to regret, because now we do not know anything for sure, and perhaps even Google has not decided whether it will actually introduce the new functionality, and if so, in what form. It may be possible to turn it off, or individual manufacturers may not use it or use it differently in their own software (such as Samsung One UI or Xiaomi HyperOS).
