Harry and Meghan are trying out a new sport ahead of the Invictus Games in Canada next year

The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, has tried his hand at snowboarding as he joins Invictus Games competitors in Canada. Harry and Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle met with athletes at Whistler Blackcomb Ski Resort in British Columbia on Wednesday.

The royal couple plans to visit more competitors at the 2025 competition's host sites, the winter sports city of Whistler and Vancouver in western Canada.

Prince Harry founded the Invictus Games in 2014. It is a sporting event similar to the Paralympics, designed to help wounded and ill military personnel and veterans in their recovery. Next year, about 550 competitors from up to 25 countries will compete in adaptive indoor events such as sit-down volleyball, swimming and wheelchair basketball.

For the first time, winter sports such as alpine skiing, snowboarding and wheelchair curling will be included.

Sit skates are a type of equipment that allows people who typically use a wheelchair or have difficulty standing for long periods to skate, with or without assistance.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made several announcements this week. The Duchess has signed a deal with Lemonada Media to record new podcast shows. The company will also distribute its previous series. Megan's podcast Archetypes about female stereotypes only ran for one series before her lucrative deal with Spotify ended in 2023.

The couple have updated their Archewell website, which is now called “The Office of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
