The Ministry of National Economy decided, taking into account the proposals of tourism professional organizations and organizations and comments that were received during the socialization of the legislation, with additional fees free of compulsory residence classification. Accordingly, the regulations project for social consultation, which aims to organize administrative service fees related to the residence qualification activity, is withdrawn.
The Hungary government is obligated to develop tourism and enhance the competitiveness of the sector, as the sector plays a prominent role in enhancing economic growth and creating job opportunities. The record year 2024 also proved that tourism is one of the main engines of the Hungarian economy: it provides approximately 13 percent of GDP and contributes significantly to budget revenues.
2025 years of families and companies, and tourism provides a livelihood of 400,000 Hungarian families. Social dialogue with regard to the process of classifying residence clearly indicated that preserving a free sector is a large -scale sectoral demand that contributes to the growth of small and medium enterprises that give the backbone of tourism. Therefore, classification procedures remain free. The decision serves the growth of families from tourism and the development of the entire sector.
