Regarding the matter, Shakira said on Monday that she has always tried to be a positive role model and do what is right. The pop star added: “Although I was determined to defend my innocence at trial, which the lawyers said I would win, I ultimately decided to keep my children’s interests in mind and settle this case as soon as possible.”

The Grammy Award-winning singer was accused in 2019 of not paying taxes on her foreign income between 2012 and 2014, even though she was already living in Spain. Shakira, who has declared her innocence all along, paid the required amount and three million euros (about 1.2 billion Hungarian forints) to the Spanish budget in interest. Then, in September this year, he was again charged with tax fraud, at which time they demanded more than 6.7 million euros (more than 2.5 billion Hungarian forints).
