King Charles would very much like to see his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibeth, but is concerned that he will have few opportunities to do so in the future. In light of the illness, he turns to his family, but the relationship with Harry's family is not very rosy.
King Charles is planning to extend his hand to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle by inviting them to a grand royal audience at Balmoral Castle. He is said to be trying to mend broken family ties and build a stronger relationship with his grandchildren.
King Charles, 75, has barely seen the Sussexes' children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibeth, since they were born, and says he can't wait to spend more time with them. A royal insider revealed:
Balmoral is truly the perfect peaceful gathering place. If the King invites them, Harry and Meghan will definitely have to go.
Recall that after leaving the royal family in 2020, Harry and Meghan returned to the UK only for certain occasions and brought their children only once – for the Platinum Jubilee.
Meghan has not set foot in Blighty since the Queen's state funeral in September 2022, so she decided to skip Charles' coronation in May 2023.
After sparking controversy over their dramatic exit from royal duties, Harry and Meghan have continued to make harsh and exaggerated claims about royal life in high-profile interviews — including with superstar Oprah Winfrey — and in their brutal Netflix docuseries, “Harry and Meghan.”
While Harry is interested in strengthening his relationship with his family, especially after learning of King Charles and Princess Kate's battle with cancer, it is understandable that his wife has more reservations.
Despite the ongoing row following Harry and Meghan's exit from the royal family, the prince traveled to the UK for a secret meeting with his father in February after his diagnosis was revealed.
The one-on-one meeting at Clarence House only lasted half an hour, but it gave him hope that there would be more family gatherings this year.
On Good Morning America, Prince Harry announced that he would be returning to the UK due to his professional commitments and would like to see his father whenever possible.
The May 8 Mass at St. Paul's Cathedral, marking the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, may be the reason behind Harry and Meghan's upcoming trip to London. Archie and Lilibeth are expected to be accompanied by their parents.
However, Meghan is concerned about her children's safety as an insider explained:
“It's getting to the point where Meghan doesn't want to come to the UK with the children. She doesn't feel safe. The current situation is that the family has to come under tight security otherwise Harry would be better off going alone.
