An elderly dog wakes up in the empty crate to find that his family has moved in without him.
A few months ago, a family in Southern California received an eviction notice. They quickly packed up all their belongings and moved to their next home, but they forgot to bring someone special: an elderly dog.
“Literally just go ahead and leave.” – said Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy dog rescue A.J the Duduto. – The dog was waiting for them to see if they would come back.”
The heartbroken dog, who was later named Fretter, had no idea where his family was going. He could no longer enter the house, so he hid in empty boxes strewn in the yard, waiting for his loved ones to return.
Sometimes he would wait in the middle of the street and look at every car Hall said. Neighbors left food and water, and he made himself a little bed in a box.
The neighbors tried to take care of the dog as best they could, but he wouldn’t let them near him. When they learned that the town wanted to demolish the house, they immediately turned to Logan’s heritage for help.
Hall said, “I was so sad when I saw him. He was so loyal. He really thought they were going to come back. It was very hard to catch him, but we managed to corner him. He just shivered and shuddered. He was so scared.”
When they finally stopped, Fretter was calm enough for Hall to hug him. “I just told him it was going to be fine.”
After a shower and some medication, Fritter’s behavior completely changed. “He’s so sweet now. He knows he’s been rescued and he’s safe,” Hall said. He’s smiling now.”
The dog is now in good hands, but he is looking for a family that will never leave him alone again.
