The new generation exit warning system built into the German manufacturer’s cars is really useful in heavy city center traffic to avoid dangerous situations caused by careless opening of doors. This assistant warns occupants of vehicles approaching a parked car from behind, and even recognizes cyclists.

In addition to the driver and passenger front doors, the exit warning system also secures the rear doors. This system is part of the standard equipment for the new ID.7 as well as the new Passat and new Tiguan, while it can be ordered as additional equipment for the Golf, ID.4 and ID.5 models.

the Exit warning A system named after the two radar sensors located on the right and left sides of the rear bumper monitors the area behind the car and can warn occupants of danger before they pull the door handle. If someone approaches from behind, an LED light is automatically turned on in the outside rearview mirror as the first warning level, and if one of the interior door handles is pulled, the system also prevents the door from opening for a short period.

If the door is opened however, a warning signal sounds. The system remains active for three minutes after the car is parked and turned off to ensure that all passengers can exit.
