Pedro Acosta took over the Moto2 World Championship lead from Tony Arpolino with his third place finish at Silverstone. Aki Agu praised his opponent.
A training crash in Aragon that injured his left leg a week before the Silverstone GP didn’t stop Pedro Acosta from reclaiming the world championship lead on Sunday.
“The last four rounds have been difficult, but we are satisfied with the result. The goal, after all, is to make the most of every situation. It was our fourth consecutive podium finish. We didn’t have the speed to fight for the win, but maybe we could have attacked on second place.”
Third place behind Aron Canet and pole winner Fermín Aldeguer was enough to dislodge Tony Arpolino from the lead in the World Championship. Italian driver Marc VDS struggled similarly to Assen and finished only 10th in Sunday’s British Grand Prix.
After a fiasco at the weekend, Arbolino exploded in testing on Monday
Acosta is now looking forward to the next assignments, starting with the Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg on August 20. The Red Bull KTM team missed Monday’s test at Silverstone.
“We took the lead back, it’s another good result and now it’s time to think about the next race. We’ve solved some problems that were still open, so we’ll be competitive in every situation.”
