Both episodes of Hotline Miami are considered true classics today, even though they weren't that long ago (2012 and 2015). However, they've successfully managed to bring back the top-down control of old GTAs and even the pixel-art graphics that perfectly suit the style of the game it overshadowed. The gameplay has also inspired many other studios: extremely fast-paced action, where both opponents and our character die instantly from any hit.

The latest studio to follow this trend is Solidowho recently announced their new game, The Sick samuraiR. The story takes place on the fictional island of Furikyu, where a young warrior visits the notorious former samurai Genyu to learn from him. His goal is to become the greatest warrior on the island. Genyu takes him under his wing and together they face the four greatest samurai who rule the island.

All this will take the form of a top-down action game, where we have to control our character through a series of individually generated paths. In any case, reflexes, speed and accuracy will be the keys to success, because if we do not kill the opponent he will kill us.

Sick Samurai is being produced exclusively for PC, and is scheduled for release about a year from now, in the third or fourth quarter of 2025.
