NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, which has been out of service for more than a week due to a problem with its instrumentation, is unlikely to operate for another week while engineers investigate the problem.
Hubble Science Instruments entered safe mode early October 25 after releasing error codes indicating missing “synchronization messages” that provide timing information used by the devices. Safety mode The telescope stopped working scientifically, Although the instruments themselves and the rest of the spacecraft themselves are in good condition.
This wasn’t the first time a message synchronization issue had affected Hubble. In its November 1 release, the devices also issued error codes two days earlier due to a particular sync message being missing, NASA said in its November 1 release. The observers restarted the machines and scientific operations resumed the next day.
The Hubble Operations Team continues to work to resolve the issue that caused the Hubble science instrumentation to enter safe mode on October 25.
They analyze the existing data and collect additional data to isolate and treat the problem further. https://t.co/euehW9keEe
