On Sunday 4 February, the snow horse racing craze, the White Turf, kicked off in St. Moritz.
On the opening day, in the first race, two horses of Hungarian interest also ran. In the afternoon, Flaming Comet (Martin Laub) and Easter Surprise (Viraj Korechanski) started in a 1,300-meter sprint that earned them 15,000 francs. While the former achieved second and fourth place last year in the high-altitude air and on the ice of a frozen lake, this was the first competition of its kind for the latter and his rider. Despite this, the seven-year-old stallion Blazing Comet was unable to repeat his previous numbers, finishing in fifth place. Easter Surprise, trained by Sandor Kovacs, on the other hand, had a great start, with the five-year-old leading for a long period, finally finishing in second place. According to plans, the white grass will start again in two weeks.
