Hungary and Italy are also sending doctors to Slovenia

Hungary and Italy are also sending doctors to Slovenia

According to a statement from the Slovenian Ministry, Guerini was pleased to respond to the request of his Slovenian colleague. As he said, he understands the situation in Slovenia, as Italy has already gone through a similar experience.

They wrote that doctors and nurses serving in the Italian armed forces will join members of the Slovenian army’s health team, which began helping hospitals earlier this week.

Slovenian Health Minister Janez Poklokar ordered the mobilization of the entire health sector last week. The Ministry of Health issued an appeal to retired doctors, medical universities and secondary medical schools asking them to participate in the fight against the epidemic. Also joined in the care of the Red Cross and doctors and nurses working in the army.

Poklokar said at the time that aid talks were underway with several countries, but none had yet been closed.

By Thursday, 3,662 new coronavirus infections were recorded in the country, and 24 patients had died of the infection, the highest daily number since January. The hospital receives 1,104 patients, 253 of whom are in the intensive care unit. In the country of more than 2 million people, 1,215,063 have been vaccinated so far, and 1,134,697 of them have already received the second dose.

Hungarians also help

In government information on Thursday

Gergeli Golias, the minister in charge of the prime minister’s office, noted that Hungary has sent 10 doctors to Slovenia to deal with the epidemic.

“Because there are already serious difficulties there,” the minister said.

It is worth noting that the medical room on Wednesday drew attention to the fact that the situation is already critical in Hungarian hospitals, intensive care units are becoming saturated, and there is less and less free space. We also indicated that if the workload of Hungarian hospitals increased at this pace, we would reach maximum capacity very quickly. Thursday announce The restrictive measures will slow the growth of hospital admissions in just a few weeks, which means that the outlook for hospital care in Hungary in the coming weeks remains unfavorable.

Also of note is the epidemic situation in the three countries involved. The charts below show that although the number of cases per day is higher in Slovenia than in Hungary, the situation in terms of deaths and hospital data is worse in Hungary than in the country we are helping now.
