The company contacted the developers in mid-December.
In recent years, Capcom has proven that it makes sense to produce remakes of popular titles. Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 immediately sucked players in, just as Resident Evil 4, which comes out next year, looks promising. However, it seems that the company does not always take a good look at overseas expenses, as more and more ominous news appears.
The latest information is that Capcom has halted development of two long-awaited remakes by fans. The remastered versions of Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Code Veronica weren’t even coming from the company’s official workshop.
Capcom has contacted the programmers “in person”.
Briins Croft, one of the programmers in charge of the project, announced the sad news on YouTube. He said Capcom contacted them in mid-December, with some not-so-nice emails. The company even asked about the models and animations used within the game, so that they resemble the copyrighted elements found in the original game.
Of course, the team fully complies with Capcom’s demands, even if they don’t necessarily agree with them. It looks like we’ll have to wait many years for the long-awaited Code Veronica revamp, if it’s even in the publisher’s plans. Fortunately, the official games arrive in good order. Resident Evil 4 Remake will be released at the end of March for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series X | S and Windows.
