Lloyd joined two of his countrymen over the weekend by playing for the US team in a 1–1 match against Sweden. Prior to that, Kristen Lilly and Christy Rampon Pierce had crossed 300, the former 354 between 1987 and 2010, and the latter 311 times in the national band between 1997 and 2015.
In addition to women, the International Federation of Football Associations (IFFHS) has published a similar permanent arrangement for men’s soccer players, led by Malaysian Su Chin An with 224 national teams, ahead of Ahmed Hassan (184) in Egypt and Badr Ahmed Al Mataf in Kuwait (181). The latter remains active, and so is Spaniard Sergio Ramos, who has won 180 matches so far. Two other players are currently playing in the top ten: the seventh is Amer Shafi of Jordan, who has been selected 176 times, and the tenth is Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been in Portugal’s colors 173 times so far.
