  • After the top list of the highest paid Hungarian Olympic athletes, we have summarized the total amount paid by the Hungarian state to the Olympians from 1st to 8th. For the athletes who have secured a place.
  • We counted 2.5 billion.
  • But there is also a bonus for coaches and training instructors, which could be an additional 1.2 billion.

Compared to previous Olympics, the Hungarian state has increased the reward for those who finish in the top eight at the Olympics by 10 percent. Gold is worth 55 million, and eighth place is worth 3.08 million. The state rewards Olympians up to eighth place.

There is no difference between singles, doubles, quads and teams, as everyone gets the amount due for placement, including the individual player and the 17-player team members of the women's handball team.

This is how the total bonus for each category looks like. When the numbers are higher, they are justified by team sports. The Hungarian men's water polo team finished fourth, the women's fifth, and the women's handball team sixth. (The men's handball players did not make it into the top four.)

The state pays HUF 2.54 billion in bonuses to athletes.

You can't avoid being a top earner with just one gold.
