The story will be completely independent of the previous episodes, so anyone who has missed the series so far can also be adventurous. There will be one small connection link, a character who will be familiar to fans from the studio’s previous game, Life is Strange: Before the Storm.
It revolves around an Asian American girl, named Alex, who grew up with adoptive parents. He has a brother, however, he has not been seen in eight years since he has moved in with other parents and now lives in Haven Springs. Invite Alex here at the start of the game, but he’s barely there, things are taking a really bad turn. His brother died in an accident and he has to know exactly what happened. In a small town where nobody knows.
Since this is a strange life story, Alex of course also has a special ability. He is unable to manipulate time or move things around with his will, but he is able to sense real but often persuasive emotions lurking in people. For them, they appear in different colors around the person – hence the title of the game.
Since this is a strange life story, the romantic streak cannot be left outside of it either, Alex will be attracted to two people as he investigates, but it is clear that the players’ decisions will shape who can approach him at the end.
According to the developers’ promise, first images and initial certification, Life is Strange: True Colors is an important step forward in the visual world, but it also maintains the typical style of the franchise. The game is scheduled to launch on September 10 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Stadium.
Square Enix also announced the release of a collector’s edition of Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm, in which both games will be ported to Unreal Engine 4 with improved visuals and animations. This version will be available for the first time alongside Life is Strange: True Colors, but will be available for purchase at a later time. ■
