In the end, the Shekvand Oak Tree took eighth place

Residents voted a Csikvánd tufted oak tree to eighth place in the Tree of the Year competition. The first was the sycamore tree in Eger.

The Csikvánd tree only meets the criteria because not only is it a habitat for squirrels, birds and other species, but its 22-metre-diameter canopy provides shade for many children at the same time that almost all of the village's residents grew up there.

Regarding the oak tree in Shishand, the participants said: Its exact origin and age are not known, but its entire environment takes us back to the garden of ancient times, because there are many local trees next to it. The settlement keeps the yard carefully tidy. The tree “was inaugurated as a symbol of immortality and strength due to its size and the solidity of its wood. What's special about our ancient oak tree is that when it was young, the main branch was cut off or damaged, so it developed seven powerful side branches, each 60-80 cm long. “in diameter.”

The oak is in good health, perhaps without any rot.

1st place: Sycamore tree in Lajos Szmrecsányi Ersekkert in Eger (3137 votes)

2nd place: Old Oak in Podrojkisvalud (3081 votes)

Third place: Semporava, Donajváros (1031 votes)

Fourth place: Tisaginda Plane Tree (765 votes)

Fifth place: Oldest tree in Lipsinje (460 votes)

6th place: 400-year-old wild pear tree in Ligitfalva (313 votes)

Seventh place: Tree of Memories, Újszasz (253 votes)

8th place: Honorable Chikvand Oak (244 votes)

Ninth place: Linden tree in Bekas (192 votes)
