The administration of Humboldt University of Caltech announced that it will no longer be open to students in the following weeks of the spring semester, adding that the ban is strictly enforced and that no one can be on campus without a permit. According to the announcement, anyone who violates these rules will be subject to accountability and arrest.
Last Monday, protesters occupied two large lecture halls at the university, calling them the “Intifada Hall.”
The mayor of Bloomington, Indiana, said in response to an unauthorized demonstration on the city's campus that he expected police to use force against demonstrators only as a last resort. Kerry Thompson urged the city authorities to adopt a so-called “de-escalation” strategy and stressed that they stand with the demonstrators.

Republican Representative in the US Congress, Pat Fallon, in a television interview on Sunday, called on the concerned universities to show force and expel students who do not follow their universities’ guidelines, even after repeated requests, because that is the only way to stop illegal actions.

Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson says the time is near when the National Guard will be needed to quell pro-Palestinian and pro-Hamas protests at Columbia University and other unruly campuses.
