The European Union said the European Union has revised the list of countries considered safe for the global situation of the coronavirus pandemic and added Indonesia to the list of countries where travel restrictions must be lifted.

The European Union first published at the end of June 2020 a list of fourteen countries, which currently include Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Chile, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Canada, Qatar, Colombia, Kuwait and Jordan. Namibia, Uruguay, New Zealand, Peru, Rwanda and Saudi Arabia.

According to the recommendation, citizens of the countries on the list should gradually lift restrictions on non-essential entry. In principle, all non-essential travel to the EU from countries not on the list are subject to temporary travel restrictions.

Of course, there are exceptions within the continent for small countries such as Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican, Iceland and Liechtenstein. In addition, member states can lift these temporary restrictions on travelers who have received a full dose of the vaccine.

A member state may not decide to lift travel restrictions for a country not on the list before a coordinated decision is taken.
