Index – Abroad – Despite negotiations with Vladimir Putin, a pair of pink socks stole the spotlight in Beijing

Although Beijing hosted important and extremely important negotiations on Tuesday, when Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Viktor Orban met in the Chinese capital, the Russian press was excited about another meeting. After Orban, Putin also received Thailand’s Prime Minister, Sritha Thavisin, at his residence.

This wouldn’t be exceptional in itself, but Thavisen made sure they talked about it anyway. The Prime Minister wore a long pair of pretty pink socks for the occasion, which came completely out from under his legs when he sat down. Furthermore, Thavisin broke protocol and amazingly modified the fusicle, attracting even more attention to himself.

He was on target: Russian newspapers were without exception preoccupied with the pink dress.

the life.ru The portal, for example, recalled the incident in a separate article, as the news.ru Page, which noted that in addition to pink socks, the Thai Prime Minister also wore an elegant suit and tie.

There has already been a similar example in the world of politics. For example, the late US President George W. Bush wore pink patterned socks at the opening of the presidential library of his son, former President George W. Bush, in 2013. But then-French Finance Minister Michel Sapin acted similarly at the Davos Forum in 2017.
