Emmanuel Macron assured Poland of its solidarity with the immigration situation on its eastern borders.
The French head of state welcomed Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki into office on Wednesday. Macron, the office of the French presidency, affirmed his country’s solidarity with Poland over the destabilization of its eastern borders. The French president said:
France is ready to provide operational support for the security of all of us, and considers it urgent to strengthen the involvement of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in addressing humanitarian problems at the borders.
According to the statement, the French president also confirmed that he and his European partners will continue to pressure Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to end the use of migrants for political purposes. Emmanuel Macron was also told that he had spoken to his Polish colleague in order to allow the media to report freely from the Polish side of the border.
According to a statement issued by the Elysee Palace, the leaders of the two countries also agreed to establish the rule of law in Poland.
The President reiterated his concern on this issue and called on the Polish government to find a solution that safeguards the core values of the European Union.
