Index – Abroad – Tens of thousands demonstrated in Brussels, and Israel fell into the hands of the French president

Belgian news agency MTI reported that about 32,000 people demonstrated on Sunday in Brussels to demand an immediate cessation of fighting in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

The demonstrators called on the Belgian government to recognize the Palestinian state and take steps towards imposing a complete arms embargo on Israel.

Lodi de Brabander, one of the movement's organizers, told the press that although the majority of people are watching the EU's reactions, this does not mean that Belgium cannot decide independently, citing Ireland and Spain as examples, where governments have already recognized a Palestinian state.

Israel takes action against Emmanuel Macron

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz announced on Sunday that he had ordered his ministry to take unspecified legal and political steps against French President Emmanuel Macron, because Israeli companies are not allowed to participate in the Euronaval naval weapons exhibition.

Israeli companies were banned from displaying their products at the arms exhibition that will open in Paris next month, in response to Israel's actions in the Gaza and Lebanon wars.

In a statement last week, the French government informed Israel that Israeli delegations cannot set up stands or display equipment, although they can participate in the European Naval Arms Exhibition in Paris from November 4 to 7. The decision affects seven Israeli companies.
