Index – abroad – The World Health Organization wants a fairer vaccination campaign

“ Coronavirus vaccines are used in 50 countries around the world, almost without exception in rich countries. Tedro Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), has warned that three-quarters of coronavirus vaccines are used in only 10 countries, and called for a fairer vaccination campaign, according to MTI.

According to the Director-General of the World Health Organization, it is not right for younger, healthier citizens in rich countries to vaccinate themselves sooner than older citizens and health workers in poor countries.

“The situation has been exacerbated by the fact that manufacturers have prioritized formal approval in economically developed countries rather than submitting complete lists to the World Health Organization regarding the state of emergency,” Tedros said. “The fair vaccination program is not just an ethical obligation. It depends on the end of the epidemic,” added the Director-General of the World Health Organization, who criticized countries that he said have bought more vaccines than they need.

And the World Health Organization’s director of emergencies, Mike Ryan, said on Wednesday that he is convinced they can adjust the effectiveness of the vaccine against the newer and more infectious strains of the Coronavirus. Ryan cited the influenza vaccine as an example, which they can also modify in a particular flu season to be effective against new variants of the influenza virus.
