According to Peter Szijjártó, “It is heartening for us Hungarians” that Christian Fóró, head of the Hungarian Party in the Highlands and candidate for president of the Hungarian Federation, finished fourth out of nine candidates. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade congratulated the politician from the highlands on his performance.
He said that it is not at all easy for a politician belonging to a national minority to run for president in the presidential elections, but he went through this task and campaigned all the time and won the largest number of votes in Donaszerdaheli and Komarom districts.
Peter Szijjártó also spoke about the fact that Hungary always respects the decisions of voters in other countries, builds its foreign policy on mutual respect, never interferes in other countries' internal political processes and expects the same from others.
There is a desire to have as many politicians as possible in international politics who speak with the voice of peace, and fly with the voice of peace. Of course we always support these politicians, and we have the right to do so.
– The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade indicated.
As Index also reported, in the first round of the presidential elections in Slovakia, none of the candidates won an absolute majority, so two weeks later, on April 6, another round will take place, in which Peter Pellegrini, who enjoys the support of the Prime Minister, will win an absolute majority. Tensions will be tense between Minister Robert Fico, who is currently co-governing, and Ivan Korcok, who is waging a campaign against Fico.
Former Foreign Minister Ivan Korcok won the first round of the Slovak presidential elections held on Saturday with 42.51 percent of the votes, and the second best candidate was Peter Pellegrini with 37.02 percent of the votes, the Slovak Parliament and the second largest ruling party. The Voice (Hlas-SD) will go to the second round of the presidential elections with its president – the official results of the elections were announced at the press conference of the State Election Commission in Bratislava on Sunday.
