From 7 to 17 October. The films of the 10th SZEMREVALÓ│SEHENSWERT Film Festival will be shown in Budapest, then in Debrecen, Pecs and Szeged. Wandering Film Week features work from 12 German-speaking countries, including two Silver Bear winners.

One of the winners in Berlin is Ich bin Dein Mensch, in which the question of what makes a person human is again asked by dusting off the idea of human love for a robot.

Another Silver Bear winner of Film Week is Christian Petzold’s The Mermaid. According to the old tale, a mermaid has to kill her traitorous love if she wants to return to the water she came from. She played the film’s cheating heroine Paula Beer, who last year won the Silver Bear, as well as the FIPRESCI Award and the European Film Award for her portrayal.

With his own elevator to hell is the Daniel Brühl special. The script for the last film by a successful German actor abroad was written by Daniel Kellmann, but the idea came from Brühl. Although Daniel Brühl plays only one of the main male roles, if we take care of the director, we’ll find a household name again: Daniel Brühl.

Based on the novel by Eric Kastner, Fabian – The Beginning of the End (Fabian oder der Gang vor die Hunde) is set in the decadent Berlin of the 1930s.

The protagonist of The Fuchs im Bau, also winner of the festival prize, is modeled after a real person, retired prison school teacher Wolfgang Ribbinger from Austria.

Wolfgang Riebniger taught for 45 years in the Austrian school system. From this, he worked for 25 years in the juvenile prison in Josefstadt. He was met by the film’s director, Arman T. Riahi, in Josefstadt prison 13 years ago. That’s when the idea for the movie was born.

The retired teacher, whose film was shot from his life, will attend a post-film audience meeting at Artist’s Cinema on October 14.
