Index – Culture – Young Hungarian Accepted into Yale University's Master of Drama Program

Dorothea Ilosfaye is one of the 16 young people who, from September, will be able to continue their studies in the master's course at the Yale David Geffen School of Drama, where Meryl Streep, among others, began her career. He met and spoke with the young man in Abu Dhabi Edolin.

“My journey starts in Gödöllő. I went to primary and secondary school there, and by chance I heard from a girl there that she went to America for a year during her high school years with the ASSIST scholarship program.” He added that he didn’t know English at the time, but he definitely wanted to seize the opportunity.

He spent a year at a private American school, where he met American and Hungarian students in the program, who advised him to go to a foreign university. Dorothea Ilosvay eventually applied to an undergraduate program at New York University’s Abu Dhabi campus.

As an actress, she saw three options for further education, one at the Juilliard School, another at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts program, and the third at the Yale David Geffen School of Drama, which was at the top of her list.

In the end, Yale University selected 16 young men, including Dory, from among three thousand applicants, after several rounds, and offered the girl a scholarship.

However, this will not be enough for everything, and foreign students who arrive on student visas cannot work in America, so the girl needs sponsors.

After completing acting training at Yale University, Dorothea Ilosfay envisions her future in Europe, preferably in independent European films.
