Index - Economics - Janus Ader: We are farther from the climate targets than they were when they were adopted

President Janus Ader drew attention to the importance of preventing the water crisis at the United Nations Water Online Conference in New York on Thursday, MTI wrote.

In his speech, the President of the Republic stressed that for the first time and not for the first time within the United Nations, the issue of how to avoid the looming water crisis, and how to prevent man-made climate change.

Climate targets adopted in Paris agreed to deep cuts in carbon dioxide emissions, but the shared goals are far from today than they were in 2015, at the time they were adopted.

– said Janus Ader, who mentioned that water-related sustainability goals were approved in the same year. According to him, new economic accounts are needed to review the impact of investments on climate and water.

We have a lot to do, given the number and scale of tasks, the motto of the coming years looks a lot more like this: Act Global, Act Local

– The President of the Republic stressed in his speech the necessity of building integrated databases to prevent the water crisis. Local, regional and global data are needed, whether it is flood forecasting, drought prediction, location, status, extent, and impacts of water pollution. He indicated the need to make accurate calculations about the extent of the expected damage and the amounts that will be spent on prevention.
