Index – Economy – Hungarians drink a lot of coffee, but there is one place where they drink more

Hungary ranks second in the regional ranking of coffee consumption, according to the press release sent by Mol to our editorial office.

More than 40 million cups of coffee have been sold – that's more than 120 cups of coffee per minute.

The announcement revealed that the Czechs are the largest coffee consumers in Central Europe, but they have a slight lead over the Hungarians. Marco Rossi, captain of the Hungarian national football team, is the company's coffee ambassador, consuming 6-7 cups of coffee daily.

I've talked about this many times Italians and Hungarians have a lot in common. It has now been proven that high coffee consumption is among them, even if the type of coffee consumed in Hungary is quite different from that usual in Italy.

In terms of taste, there are greater differences between individual countries. In Hungary, espresso is the number one favorite, followed by cappuccino and latte. In Slovakia, the ranking is similar, with espresso and long coffee at the top. In Serbia, pressed coffee and cappuccino also made it to the podium, but espresso with milk took second place. In the Czech Republic, latte, Americano and cappuccino, and Croatians believe in the trio of espresso macchiato, espresso and cappuccino when choosing a coffee.

World Coffee Day has been celebrated around the world for 15 years, since 2009, on September 29 at the initiative of the International Coffee Organization (ICO).
