Agriculture Minister István Nagy wrote on his social media page that the seeds were seized thanks to ongoing inspections and strict food safety rules, and that the interests of Hungarian farmers “will be protected even after that.”
The government's goal is to ensure that only safe and high-quality food reaches the Hungarian people.
Nabih explained that he has initiated procedures against the distribution company, and the necessary measures are being taken to destroy it in accordance with the law.
Istvan Nagy noted that Hungarian food products are among the safest in the world thanks to strict regulations and regular inspections.
He explained that they strongly support agricultural products imported from third countries, which must meet the same standards as food produced in the Union.
The Head of the Ministry also drew attention to the fact that Hungary will maintain the national ban on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine until a similar international solution is reached.
The restriction does not affect seeds, and transit shipments are still allowed, but the relevant authorities will close them at the borders in accordance with previous practice, they will be monitored, and the path of the affected products throughout the country will be checked, the Minister of Agriculture said.
