Index – Economy – Shift: More US LNG shipments to Europe than gas shipments through Russian pipelines

One of them was reported by the International Energy Agency (IEA), according to which in June, for the first time in history, more American liquefied natural gas (LNG) reached the commercial block than Russian pipeline gas, according to OilPrice.com.

Fatih Birol, head of the International Energy Agency, emphasized that the main reason for this was that Russia significantly reduced the gas pipeline sent to the territory of the European Union, so there was a demand for more American shipments.

Birol drew attention at the same time: this does not mean independence from Russian gas, and European countries must do everything to reduce demand, because they can expect a harsh winter.

The annual maintenance work of the German-Russian Nord Stream gas pipeline will be carried out in July, due to the pipeline not being operational at all. For this reason, July can be a particularly difficult month in terms of gas shipments, and can be a major challenge for Europe to fill its tanks, he writes. liner.

France, Spain, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Poland used US LNG shipments the most, but Hungary, Slovakia, Austria and Germany rely heavily on Russian gas.
